The Very Rev. The Honourable Dr. Lois M. Wilson

With great sadness, we announce the death of The Very Rev., The Honourable Dr. Lois M. Wilson, 28th Moderator of The United Church of Canada. She faithfully served as Moderator from 1979 to 1982. Rev. Lois Wilson died in hospital in Fredericton, NB, on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the age of 97. We celebrate her 59 years of ministry with The United Church of Canada. Lois was known for her work in human rights, ecumenism, social justice, and her contributions to the political and cultural landscape, she received 14 honorary degrees.
She is survived by four children, 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be made available when possible. Please keep Lois' family, friends and loved ones in your hearts and prayers during this difficult time.
A memorial service is planned for October 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Metropolitan UC, 56 Queen St E, Toronto, ON. The service will be livestreamed on YouTube.
