The Outreach Committee invites you to join the Advent journey through the United Church of Canada’s Gifts with Vision programs – Aid Displaced Persons and Food For The North.

Aid Displaced Persons

Displaced persons around the world face untold suffering and need. On average, one person flees their home every two seconds because of war, persecution, starvation, or climate disasters. In 2022, 108.4 million people worldwide were displaced, and this number shows no signs of declining. Food, shelter, education and training, health care, and other vital programs for displaced persons are more necessary than they have ever been. The United Church’s partners in Africa, the Middle East, and South America provide care and support to people who have had to leave everything behind.

Your Gift will provide vital food, shelter, and education for the growing number of people around the world who have had to flee their homes.

Food For The North

Food prices continue to rise steeply because of inflation and worldwide supply chain disruptions. In the fly-in communities of the Far North, already high food prices are going even higher. Everyone has a right to have enough nourishing food for themselves and their families. Help people in the Far North access the food they need.

Your Gift will buy grocery cards for a family in the Far North.

Would your office co-workers, neighbours, hockey team, curling team, extended family etc. be interested in capturing the true meaning of Christmas giving? You may bring your donation to the church with you on Sunday morning or drop it off at the office with Suzanne during regular office hours, with “Advent Appeal” in memo line, make an e-transfer (see link below) with the notation “Advent Appeal” in the comment box. Tax receipts will be issued for each donation.

Our goal is to raise $2500. Watch the thermometer on the AUC website each week to see how close we are to our goal!
