In a rare opportunity, The United Church of Canada has partnered with the 2024 Stars on Ice tour as part of our strategic plan to Strengthen Invitation. The 30-second video featured on this page will be witnessed by over 100,000 guests during the 12 live performances by the world’s top skaters in arenas across Canada.

The Stars on Ice show promises to be a celebration of talent, passion, and the pure artistry of figure skating. Shows are happening in Halifax, Moncton, Ottawa, Laval, Toronto, St. Catharines, London, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Victoria.

On June 10, 1925, in the Mutual Street Arena in Toronto, The United Church of Canada was formed by a union of Presbyterian, Methodist, Congregational, and General Council of the Local Union churches. Is it a happy accident that an opportunity to speak to Canadians at large, to maybe raise a curious brow about who The United Church of Canada is today, should take place in an arena?

Starting on April 25 in Halifax, Canadians will be invited to journey with us by subscribing to our Centennial Newsletter at 100UnitedYears.ca(opens in a new tab). This newsletter will explore our rich history through images and videos pulled from our archives. Subscribers will learn more about our history of deep spirituality, bold discipleship, and daring justice.

The United Church of Canada’s 100th anniversary is an opportunity to honour our past and take hold of the future by reaching new people and new communities. We are 100 Years United and Uniting!

If you go to a show, we’d love to hear from you! Please send a note (and photos) to rparkes@united-church.ca. Find dates and times or purchase tickets at StarsonIce.ca

100UnitedYears.ca is part of the Stars on Ice campaign and a landing page to invite everyone to subscribe to our Centennial Newsletter(opens in a new tab) and journey with us from kick-off worship on June 9, 2024, to the Centennial worship service on June 8, 2025 (location TBD).
